Decisions, Decisions, Decisions?

Probably not going to use a canopy. I am aware that I will have more evaporation with an open top. I am in the pre-design setup of the 125 gallon currently. I'm looking at all my options available.

If no canopy, and no t5 supplements desired, I'd look mainly at pendants. I have the LumenBrite mini with a select a watt electronic ballast with 250 radiums.

I like the look of the 400w sfiligoi fixture w/t5s better.

I was thinking mainly pendants. The 400 sfiligoi fixture w/t5s may be an option also. Where are they made? I'm trying to avoid anything "made in China".

I believe in purchasing quality products and I'm not certain quality products are being made in China [IMHO].

Amen. If no top then one sleek fixture hung from the wall behind the tank would be perfect

Sfiligoi is made in Italy. I have the 24" XR6

Here is what you would probably need:

Here's an article where a guy uses that light over his DT.

Thanks for the links. If my tank could look 1/3 of what the guy in the article looks; I would be a happy camper. I haven't read the article yet, but I wonder how the timing of his lights is setup?

To be honest, I only skimmed the article. I saw pretty corals, and that was good enough for me :).

The main complaint I have seen is that the older models used Chinese fans, and they would go out or get loud after a few years.

The XR6 does not have cooling fans. Something in the design of the fixture allows it to self cool with out fans.

As far as lighting times, very subjective. I run 2 6hour cycles a day.

I run 3 of these 250w fixtures over my 180 for a total of 5hrs a day.

Looks like these may be Lumenax Elites; i.e. double ended? What type of ballasts; electronic or just plain magnetic? Are the ballasts external to the fixture? Please PM where you purchased and a price for each if you remember the price.

Yes mine are double end. I use the 250w icecap electronic ballast. And they are external from the fixture. I bought the fixtures used here on ACR and I purchased the ballast online.
