Dendro?

I hope thats really a joke. Few to no corals actually eat and digest phytoplankton. Its a fun way to pollute your tank though!

Edit:
heathlindner25;859139 wrote: technically I do use DT live phytoplankton combined with fuel, and then spot feed mysis

ehhhh....... what are you trying to feed with the phyto?

I am using frozen Brian shrimp cubes to feed it I was wondering how long can they sit out in a cup of tank water before I need to throw them out can I feed in the morning and then again at night with the same cute

I use it for my clams and sponges, and my sand bed inhabitants...
and I do have a few soft corals that I'm sure enjoy it.

Do you have any mysis? Mysis shrimp has more Protien.

You can thaw the food, use it in the morning, put in the fridge, and use the rest at night.

Fwiw, PE mysis oxidizes quickly- the longer it sits in the fridge, the darker it will turn. I wouldn't let it sit much longer than a day.

Thanks that's good to know I just don't want to flood my 30 gal cube with the whole thing ill do half am half PM

I feed mine all kinds of stuff. The LRS reef frenzy has a bunch of different types of seafood in it. I feed that, cyclopeeze, nutramar ova, ocean nutrition's oyster feast and R.O.E. and PE mysis.

I feed mine shredded Mysis and plankton. I find the smaller pieces "stick" better to the feeding tentacles and are less likely to be stolen by the fish.

I feed all my non-photosynthetic corals 2-3 times per week right after feeding the fish.

Interesting, how are you feeding the clams and sponge? And what sand bed inhabitants?

basically it's just one of the things I put into my tank , I was only suggesting he put some sort of liquid coral food in his tank in hopes his dendro would open up a little bit so he could feed it something larger... oh and I hope to be feeding my sand bed fauna

IMHO, and IMHO alone, I'm not sure phyto would entice them any more then salad would entice a lion, but that's just my thoughts.

And I was just curious *what* and *how* you were hoping to feed using phyto. No big deal.

its okay to be not sure about things....lol

The faster you want it to grow, the more you should feed it. I only feed mine once a week now. I can't think of anything that I've fed my fish that the dendro wouldn't eat, including pellets. I haven't tried the vegetarian diet.

I would take him and drop him in a cup of mysis shrimp and water for about 5 mins. I did this with my dendros when they where small. Or take a cup and put it over him when u feed. That way u can watch him eat.

Oh, I see. Another policing comment. In that case, sure. I would offer meaty foods. Not phyto. As dendros, nor any other stony coral eat or digest phytoplankton as a functional food source.

There. Are you happy now?
