I've got all this stuff, and I'm not sure what to do with it or what else I need to get/do.

Anyone in the Marietta area want to swing by and take a look and tell my dumb self what I need?

Thanks!

1. Grab the hose from outside and fill the tank with water
2. Put in fish and coral
3. Use Morton's SEA salt (3 cups per gallon of water)
4. Enjoy!

You forgot to add the step where you put in the little diver or castle.

I object!!! 3 cups of salt per gallon is too much! I suggest using 2 7/8 cups per gallon!

Clearly you're a newb idiot. That won't provide NEARLY the amount of sodium that SPS requires. You should also consider adding some cheetoes to your sump.

Cheetos???? Thought it was Fritos!!! Guess I'll keep putting them in my ten gallon sump... The two tangs in there sure look happy!

oh my god, this thread is hillarious!
Volcano Baby! hahahaha
but seriously, some newb is going to have castle, corals, and fish swimming around in water so salty its murky.

Uh... Are we allowed to really call newb's names? Hmmmmm... A new world of possibilities just open up.

Does it have to be original Fritos or will the BBQ do? Just trying to use what I have around the house before I buy anything new.

Someone should really put a disclaimer. I got a text this morning from a friend, she wrote "I thought you said I couldn't use table salt". I think this was well before everyone else posted tho. I got a good laugh TY!!!

....and all this time I thought it was Clorox!!!!:lol2:

In all seriousness, though... I've run tanks for about 4 years, but never got one up and running from scratch. I pretty much received full systems the whole time.

Right now, I've got this big glass box sitting on top of a cabinet, the makings of most of a rubbermaid sump to beneath it, and some tubes, a couple pumps which may or may not have all the stuff they need. The tank is Oceanic, but it hasn't seen water for well over two years. I've been trying to get it drilled and figured out to get this ol' boy up and running.

I barely know the difference between a buick and tunze, but once it's up and running, I've got a somewhat good idea of what to do.

I'm just tired of looking at this box that's "gonna" be a fish tank.

Gnashty, I'll take you up on your offer if you're around. I'm kinda buried in the work aspect of what I do, but I'll try to keep my eyes open for messages.
