After listening this months meeting I couldn't help think perhaps I found the explanation to my disappearing clown. I have a pair of false percs in a 120 reef and every once in a while the male disappears. I always find him in the back corner of the tank in the rock work. He will come back after a few days. The speaker said the male would guard the eggs. So.. if thats the case then awesome! but the rock work can't really be torn down there. I've now added a little pot back there, but is there any way to convince them that the pot is better than the rock for next time? Or will I have to mix up all the rock work and make the pot the best choice? Any advice would be much appreciated.

So they naturally preference the smooth surface? Thats handy! I honestly can't even see eggs. They are way back in a nook where I don't have access without ripping the tank apart. I'll have to get another tank ready for next time. Can you do the whole thing in a 10g? Space is a limiting factor for me.
RGR that. I will be picking some up and putting em in the freezer so I'll be ready. For filtration is it best to use the old air powered filters? or just air stones with water changes? I'd like to have things set up before hand. I will be doing some more reading as well.
anothe option is a larval snagger. I used one to collect the larva when the hatch from reef tank. It's an easy way to get the larva with out having to disturb the tank. Only problem is the yield is pretty low, probably on anout 10% of the hatched egss make it to the snagger so you end up with 25-50 larva instead of 200 or more.
