Everything looks really happy! I'm very jealous of that large colony of Alveopora. It's one of my favorites. I've checked everywhere near me and can't even find a tiny frag of it. I -really- hate the idea of ordering it online but it's one of the last on my list for stocking my tank. Where did you find such a wonderful frag of it?

Found it at Nemo's in Gwinnett about a month ago . I think it was 20 or 25bucks but it has almost doubled in size . My wife loves it

Anyone have a good pistol shrimp cocktail recipe ? This thing moved a solid 2lbs of sand yesterday . In the process he has moved a 3inch mushroom into the main rock structure and I can't get to it . I moved every thing up and glued all the rocks together . Had to add a few pieces to create some more real estate.

Good news is my sand bed never needs cleanedIMG_20190511_140703.jpg

FWIW-
I put pieces of egg crate under anything I don't want to be moved.
Then cover egg crate with substrate of choice.
Then place said 'anything' on top.
Tip: Cut egg crate to desired size/shape using diagonal cutters. I prefer to not leave sharp edges on, so cut flat across adjoining cross members.

My randals pistols are so small they dont do any harm and dont move to much sand or cover anything but my tiger pistol....he sounds like the one you have. I tried all week to trap mine and have not been able to. He is so smart. If I ever trap him, I am giving him away and replacing him with the much smaller randals kind. By the way...everything is looking so wonderful in your tank and sorry to hear about your mandarin. I going to get one soon too.

Well I have been so busy I haven't had time to post anything so here's a quick update on the tank.

Added a few pieces from the expo , lost a few pieces to a rock slide , squished mushroom , not sure but everything in a 6" radius of that mushroom died in 48 hrs .

Lost a purple stylo , a fungia plate , Xenia , a pink bird nest, orange monti and the mushroom .

Other then that everything else looks amazing. All the euphyllia are splitting or have split at least one time . New zoas popping up every few days . This Duncan is out of control . Started with 2 or 3 heads and now has 12. Clown fish are still homeless .

Your tank is looking great, I laugh my butt off everytime I read the clowns are still homeless!!!

Things are looking happy, fluffy and wonderful! Very nice! Sorry about the rock slide loss but your right, everything else is looking really great!

Think I figured out my secret . I stopped testing the water , I stopped worrying about the calcium , dosing , and stopped all additives. IMG_20190630_152816.jpgIMG_20190630_152833.jpg

I keep doing weekly water changes and just watching the critters . If there's no algee growing ,sad inhabitants, blooms happening , corals dieing , im sticking with that . Feeding corals a mix twice a week , fish get that and live baby brine shrimp one extra time . Everything is doing good except a few sps issues I dad but I added some clean up crew and they are actually looking better now.

Little baby coral every where , mushrooms splitting , homeless clown fish clowning , so much fun. Enjoy

I actually have lost a few corals , but in reality these were mainly small frag test pieces to see what works best for my style . The tank has basically told me to stop messing with it ..lol . The stuff that's thriving will continue to grow the stuff that struggling will probably die off in time. I'm not trying to push the limits . Rather just have a tank full of corals that just look good with low maintenance.

The refugium is enough filter on it's own to keep the nitrates low and everyone seems to like it . I'm having to throw out hand fulls of cheato a week . Starting keeping it in jars and raising copepods in them and straining them out . That's not even necessary anymore as there are so many .

YUP! Those are some of the things I learned over the years. I only dose if I HAVE to and regular water changes. I dont chase numbers. I like low maintainance, low tech tanks. I also choose corals that fit the paramaters of my tank. Prayer, frequent water changes, stablity and the right corals for your tank make it fill up fast and always look beautiful!

That is great about the cheato! Lots of natural pods for everyone in the tank!

I can see growth in your tank and things are looking really great! You really are doing a great job! Keep sharing more pictures!

Everything looking Happy Today . Still dealing with this green algae but besides that it's all good . Took out the Duncan that was funky , moved a few things other then that just doing maintenance and watching things grow .

George and weezy are still homeless not hosting anything . IMG_20190904_182222.jpg

Amazing the growth and change since April! Looking great! It takes a while for our tanks to find their groove but your tank looks like it is there!

Things look reallly good! Lots of color and a good variety of things are thriving!

Don't remember who gave me this piece but I was worried about it at first but after 6 months it's become one of my favorites. Now totally encapsulated in this sponge this guy is super happy . The sponge seems to be growing too. You can actually see the water valves now. IMG_20191123_131100.jpgIMG_20191123_131044.jpg
