feeding sun coral

Do they stay out all day even when you are not feed them? Or just out during the day when u are feeding? Thanks.

do you have shimps in your tank? My shrimps are all over when I spot feed my sun coral and I have to constantly guard it until the polyps open back up again.
 
Mine are out probably 70% of the time. If they're not out, as soon as food hits the tank they are.

I used to have a shrimp (RIP Kobayashi!) until my flower nem ate him, and he would steal from anything with food (which is how he ended up a meal himself). I would lure him away and squirt some food in a spot or give him a small piece of silverside to distract him when I would feed the suns.

The shrimp was a cool addition to the tank, but such a PITA that I don't think I'm going to add another.
 
Shut off flow, cover them if possible, and let the gorge. I have to shield mine, my sailfin goes nuts around food and totally steals it all.
