you don't need to fill your entire tank with this sand--you just wanna buy regular sand (say from F&S)-cheapest I've seen, and "seed" it with someone else's "live sand"--if you fill your sandbed with this stuff, it will kill off the entire sand bed other than the top 1/2 to 3/4 inch-in other words, it will be bad for your tank--you only need the "live" part for the upper layer-that's it--IMO
