Has anyone seen fin swelling from ich or could it be something else? I have a Regal tang who's ich severity varies from day to day. Today he is really covered, so bad that it appears its caused his left fin to swell. Along with the little white spots he also has tiny black ones. I trunk they are sores from the ich but I am far from an expert on this, thus I look to you guys for answers. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your responses!

BTW I do not have a camera capable to display the detail needed to see them.

You need to try buddy, just get what you can with the pic and the experts might can figure it out. Jenn is very helpfull with fish diseases. I lost alot of fish because of a sick regal tang. He started a domino effect IMHO and I lost 4 fish in three days. I don't know if I will ever keep a Regal because of it. They are great fish in reality but I will have to have a proper UV before I try another

I've never seen swelling with ich. It is probably a secondary infection. Is QT a possibility?

I should be able to get pictures tomorrow. I called a friend that has a much better camera. Hopefully she will be able to get decent pictures.

I'm interested In seeing as well. I just added two tanga in my tank a week from each other and they fought for 3 days non stop. After that I notice white dots on them. So I figured it was ich. It doesn't look that bad right now. Just a few dots here and there. It's been like this for 4 days now. So I'm over killing with garlic nori sheets and frozen food. They still eat like pigs so I hope they pull through. All other fish look good right now. Good luck man.

I could set one up, I have an unused 72. But it won't have a skimmer, uv or sump. do you think that would be a problem?

Not as long as you have a good HOB filter and do regular water changes.

Hate to say it bro but it sounds like black ick to me with the black spots. I dealt with it recently and it took out half of my fish but I kept feeding metro and focus soaked food and I have finally defeated it. Haven't had any signs of it in like 4 weeks (knock on wood). It is not as bad on the fish but it is a pain to rid! Good Luck man. Just keep the fish fed and soak in metro, focus and garlic.

How long from start to finish did it take to cure the fish?

Edit: Oh and fin swelling is gone??? Not sure what that was about yesterday!

It will come and go in acycle ....you will have some days where there are no signs then all of a sudden an out break .....I would say it took 2 months of heavy feeding for me to beat this. Just feed heavy with metro and focus soaked food and also soak in garlic and vitamins.
