I think I have some of these and read online that they are actually a good scavenger to have in a tank. I don't know! Here is my reference

Some people love them, some hate them. They are good scavengers and I don't mind them. I've got a bunch in my tank. Their population grows when you overfeed which I tend to do. If they don't bother you leave them be.
