First impression of the Maxspect Gyre

Are you referring to the stronger magnet mount for thicker glass?

I don't think so I saw an article saying there was an improved mount to reduce noise. It said the smaller gyre is being shipped with it but the larger unit would have one available soon.

That's awesome. I do know they offer a much stronger magnet mount other than (OEM) or I should say the last time I checked they were about to start offering it.

This is where I read it. I'd love to see how much it helps!

Thanks for sharing! I'll be interested to see what they offer Gen 1 owners toward the upgrade.

Brett how is your Gyre holding up? I love mine but, the flow drops alot between cleanings...

And the gyre saga continues with me onboard, added the 150 to my tank a few days ago and must say that I'm very impressed it the wide flow and how powerful this little thing is.
I have sacrificed the laziness of my vortech being on my apex to get up and change the settings, so that a plus, I'll call it exercise.
For now the down side to this is with out cranking it up to a 100% power I can't get the flow on the opposite side of the tank but then again, that's 7 foot away.
The control dial could be a little more user friendly but in all so far so good, might have to add a second or wait for the 180 to come out then replace mine.

So far it's been great! I did have to increase my power setting to 5 from 4 when it was showing obvious signs of being dirty. Stay on top of switching out the cages and rotors every month or so and it runs perfectly! At the 3 or 4 month interval I'll switch out the main bearings and clean it all up.

Marlon it's great to get some feedback on the Gyre in a huge tank! I saw BRS posted a video on setting up and using two gyres on a larger tank and now I wish I had a bigger tank to put two gyres in sync with each other. For now 40% to 50% power is all I need in my 120 gallon. :)
