Flow for BTA

How much flow is too much flow for a 14g tank? I had the anemone in a great spot, moderate flow / middle of the tank with a 150w MH.... but he moved under the rock into this little cave away from the light / flow. I understand that anemone's will go where they want, but does that mean it is getting too much light or flow? Or is it normal for it to get adjusted and then start to venture out?

No sand is flying anywhere, and the other corals are enjoying everything, except for maybe my bubble coral (he/she doesn't like much flow at all).

It is making me second guess using an mp10 in a smaller tank.....

150w seems like a lot of light for a 14g unless its hung higher above the tank...maybe too much light?

Minimum flow is around 200gph I think... if you have it turned down all the way it should be fine in a nano since it spreads the flow out a good bit.
My RBTA is about 9" away from an MP40W and seems to like it.

The good thing about BTAs is that they will place themselves where they want to be as long as they are healthy... you just have to keep them out of danger (e.g. out of the MP10) while they do it.

I have thought about that.... but my logic is:

A solana which most people would agree 150w is perfect for, if not 250w measures 20x20x20. My tank is 15x15x15. As far as light is concerned, the 5 inch height difference t is the major factor in the equation. Therefore, I hung my light about 8 inches above the tank, as opposed to around 4 inches (how close it was on my solana). So I have 150w only about an inch closer to my tank than most people do on solana's. And I don't think that extra inch is going to be too crazy?

I also thought about people's frag tanks. People have 12-15 inch high frag tanks with 150w pendants over it all the time. So while it is a lot of light, I think it is doable (so far I have not had a heat issue since it is so high off the tank).

My logic could very well be flawed, but I think that makes sense?

The new onyx clowns are certainly enjoying their new anemone, haven't left it since. Perhaps that is what is annoying it.

That makes sense, thank you for your insight! I definitely do not think flow is an issue then. Perhaps it just needs time to adjust to the new light. It is much more powerful than what it was under before.

That's the key; not that it is too much light, but that it is stronger than what it was used to. I think it will learn to love the light in time.

Appreciate your help! I don't know what reefers did before the guidance of the internet. I definitely could not run a reef without help like this.
