I am NOT planning to do this - my wife would kill me!

But theoretically speaking, if one wanted to have a football helmet in the tank, what would they need to do to prep it properly (even if that means using a fake helmet)?

Take anything non plastic out of it, technically that would be it - only questionable thing would be the paint, that might leach something into the water over time...

I could see this more in a freshwater tank. I might be completely making this up, but I think I may have seen sports team deco for fish tanks. I'm sure someone makes it, just a matter of finding it.

thats because this is tacky, and so are most freash water tanks:D

It depends on the helmet, say a Auburn, Alabama, or LSU helmet and fish would get real sick, a tennessee helmet and it would be sure sudden death, UGA helmet and tank is surely to thrive beyond belief!!!!!! GOOO DAWWGGGSSS

Oh, I completely agree, I'm just surprised I didn't think of it first!

Don't forget about the metal buttons where chin straps hook up. And the facemask is coated, but still metal and may have some exposed areas.

As for the fish dying, it's possible the sheer awesomeness of an AU helmet might be too much for them to handle and they stroke out, so I would recommend the GA helmet, which really nobody is afraid of.

you could drill out the strap snaps and remove all the foam inside.. maybe you could find some nylon screws to use instead of the steel ones that will hold the facemask on...

nothing should leech out of the helmet, as it's all integrally colored plastic.

the stickers for the school mascot i guess could be an issue, but again, they are just plastic and adhesive, same with the stripes and other decorations(ncaa sticker/number/bones/etc)..

Let's see...

The last time we played you guys would have been November 14th. What was the score? Oh, that's right 31 to 24. And who won? I do believe it was the Dawgs. And what about the year before that? November 15th, 2008. The score was 17 to 13, again, Dawgs won. And don't forget about 2007. 45 to 20, UGA again. Shall I keep going, or have you regained your respect? ;)

I was at the last matchup, and if the refs weren't on the GA payroll, it would have been a blowout.

As for respect, where is your athletic director? How many 13-0 seasons do yall have?

And Auburn still leads the series in the "South's Oldest Rivalry", so mind your place....2nd that is.

All in good fun. And seriously, if any reefers are in Auburn for a game, they're welcome to stay at my place just a few miles from the stadium, since it looks like I'll be keeping it through this year at least.

Heineken on tap, and usually float a keg for home games.

Very nice! If the UGA game is there, I might take you up on that!!
