Wantd to see if anyone that has a Foxface is also keeping Clams or have had any issues with them picking at clams?

I have a Magnificent Foxface, but have been thinking about adding a few clams in between my 2 rock island structures. I know foxfaces can pick at some LPS, but have not been able to come across any information about how they do with Clams.

Thanks.

I had a large clam and a magnificent foxface. No issues to report. However, the coral beauty angel did harass it significantly.

Thanks, I don't have any angels to worry about.

I am just worried because I know Foxfaces can pick at some corals, but I just mainly read about LPS. Mine has been in the tank for a while now and I have not seen it pick at any of my Acans, Favias, or Chalices.

Thanks.

This is an old picture of my rockwork when I first setup mt tank, but I wanted to possibly do a clam "garden" in between the two island.

I would make a cave a little bigger rabits seam to do better wen they have a place to hide they spook easily. You will also nead a net with large loops like the ones in bait and tackle shops the mesh ones damage them if you have to move them
Only problems I have had with my rabits and other fish is with my scribbled and triggerfish she has killed a Niger and redtail but this rabit was also 6" wen I got it no problems with other fish though
Just rember there fins pack a punch if you work in the tank a few min a day they will git use to you and stay away. Just always back down wen the fins go up

in general, most magnificants are pretty good with coral. There are cases I have read about and heard second hand (true with some of the bigger tangs too) that some individuals might get a liking to zoas, clams, acans, open brains ect. That said, IMO, I think it would be a faily safe risk, as he hasnt show interest in your other corals. Maybe start with a small duresa or croeca as a test and then when you are comfortable, teardrop maximas and such

Actually the caves are both very large and the rock work is open in the back. He tends to stay in the left cave at night. I used a large acclimation box to transfer him after acclimating him when I got him a while back becuase I had heard the same thing. He has gotten use to me in the tank and has started to eat out of my hands. Probably not the safest thing for me to do :wow2:

Thanks for the advice and I think I will try a less expensive clam to start with and see what happens. I figure if I keep him well feed I might be able to avoide him nipping at corals. He is in a tank with lots of Anthias so the tank is feed 3 times per day.
