I just ordered a 24x24x12 rimless frag tank with corner overflow. What equipment should I buy for it?

Are you plumbing in to your exhausting system? Or are you building it "stand alone"?

As Ryan pointed out in my build thread yesterday, adding a tank like that to your existing system will be much more stable, and probably produce better results.

That being said, to achieve it, you only need a return pump, light, and powerhead/wave maker of your choice.

I guess I can tie into system if I have to, I'm getting concerned with weight because I already have a 120 gallon setup on my 3rd story

I bought LEDs for the tank in the group buy so the lights are covered

Should be fine. But ive done both stand alone currently doing this and tied in which I did previously. Only thing im using now is light heater powerhead and canister filter. Able to dose better due to less water for it to be disperse through but all and all both are running about the same.

Stand alone, you need pretty much everything you would for a regular tank.

Lights
Heater
Some sort of flow

You may benefit from carbon to clean out some of the snot that the frags will invariably release.

Side note think about a convict or kole tang i had some issues with algae and those guys did a great job.

I'm doing the same... but a 30 cube... is sorta small for those guys isnt it? I suppose if you get a baby and trade/sell him down the road its not so terrible.

I have a frag tank of the same dimensions. I had a 24" sump, a Euro Reef RS 80 skimmer, Eco Plus 396 return pump and an AI Sol Blue fixture. So I put all of them to use along with a 150w heater. Transferred some substrate from my main tank, filled it and put in some liverock out of the refugium of the display. No cycle time whatsoever.
Currently it's holding a couple of drags and a huge sunset monti encrusted rock and a rock with a small piece of Setosa monti that has colored up nicely. There's a small Tomini hanging out in there as well for the moment and he's quite content at picking at the liverock all day.
Unfortunately I don't have any pics at the moment.

Good luck!
