Ok, i got basically a few frags but its all on one branch if that makes sense.
I got it from peter (phscales) and it looked awsome when i first put it in the tank the tentacles came out and were bright green with the blue/purple tips it looked amazing during the day and at night the tentacles would shrink back in.

Lately the past few days the tentacles have not been comping out anywhere near 50% of what they were the first few days. I mean the color is still there and they still look good but the tentacles just are not extending like they did at first.

I have a 150w MH sunpod and its on 6 to 8 hours a day and when its not on the lunar white/blue led's are on and at night just the blue led's stay on.

am i doing something wrong. The only thing i have changed is that i started using RO water because i was using tap water. I have not done a water chance just a few top offs not even 5 gallons of RO water in the 29 gallon tank yet. Also my water params checked out fine.

Have you checked you alk and cal.?

run some carbon.... especially if you have softies in the tank.. you could have some allopathy going on..

is this something they can test for at the store? or should i get my own test and do it?

yeah i have put in 2 of the white filters that have carbon already in them? you know the typical things you would buy at petsmart it was like 5 bux for 2 filters at least im pretty sure it was carbon i forgot i did that do you think it was something else in there???

it was like the aquafilter replacement cartridges that fit in the aquafilter 10 20 or 30 or something like that i just thought it was carbon already in them do you think it was somethign else??

If you are going to keep coral you realy should check at least your alkalinity. Water changes are always good to if some thing is not right.

ok i will go get a alkalinity test tomm. What should the alkalinity be at?
also i will get a calc test what should it be at?

can i get these test from petco or petsmart or should i go to LFS and get a specific one there?

Some petcos may have them but you would be better getting them from Sam at aqua buys.

Alk should be 8 to 10 dkh
Cal should be 300 to 450

are the instant ocean ones ok to use?

or should i get the salifert i checked out his site and i have read a few threads that some test kits are garbage just want to make sure i dont order one that is gonna give me bad readings.

Salifert are the best, but you just need to make sure your close to were you need to be. If you get into SPS you will need to be more exact. GL

Also check the flow. These things hate direct flow.

both of my powerheads are at the top of the tank no direct flow near them.
