Had to do something undesirable....mixing tangs

I had to make immediate use of my QT tank last night where I had been holding a small yellow tang I had given away (but STILL not picked up.....you know who you are:D) so I had to put him in my DT with a scopas tang. Both tangs are juveniles but almost identical size. Perfect recipe for a serious brawl. I fully expected the yellow to be the aggressor but my scopas is certainly the bully. Left the lights on for a couple minutes after dropping him in and the scopas....while not attacking....was pacing him around the tank. Shut off the lights for pitch dark and hoped for the best. Fully expected to come home today to a dead tang but they seem to have made peace for the time being. Yellow tang has a couple nipped fins but no big damage. Is this just the calm before the storm or is there a chance of co-existance between the 2. 100 gallon tank and good rock cover/caves.

You will never believe this but I have a yellow tang in the QT and my husband brought me a present......Scopes.....I didn't have a second QT by the way the YT was QTed for ick...a little over 2 weeks now. I put the Scopes in the DT.
Should I take the scopes out of the DT and put him in the QT with the YT? Bubba

I would say no, unless your QT is big and has plenty of hiding places. QTs are generally smaller and more sparsely furnished, so to speak, for ease of examination, treatment, catching, etc. Also, it's quite possible that if the scopas had anything, it's already tainted the water in the DT. Furthermore, if the scopas DOESN'T have anything, it might GET sick when you pop it in the QT with a fish that you KNOW has ich.

If it was me, I'd leave it in the DT since it's already there.

LOL.....667 now....safe again:thumbs:

Scopas showed considerably more aggression during feeding so I added 4 purple tangs, 4 scopas tangs, 4 sailfin tangs, and 4 yellow tangs to the tank with them......that should put him in his place (photos of course:D). Haven't seen him since....big pansy...lol. Yellow is out swimming like nothing ever happened.

My Scopas runs my tank. He keeps a big fat 6 line, male anthias, and an agressive yellow watchman/pistol pair at bay.
