What do you think as to the reason why? All of other SPS (pictured) is doing fine. Paremeters are excellent. All SPS are at the same elevation and distance from the lighting. I also increased water flow about two weeks ago, but no improvement.

Thank you.

Can't attach pics for some reason.

from the information that you provided, here's my answer:

Took plenty of pics and made several attempts to upload. Maybe I need to reduce the size.

I think I got it! What do you think?

It happens to mine every so often too. I leave it, it dies off, it comes back, etc. Doesn't seem to invade the rest of the colony or really harm anything. I see snails & hermits picking it off every now and again. I just kinda chalk it up to "one of those things" and leave it ride.

Tony, I used to have that same problem. I cut off those tips and increased flow and everything was fine.

Only way for anything to grow on a coral is when that coral is dead... it seems your birdnest tips died which exposed the skeleton which in turn becomes a petri dish for algae.
I had that as well on my bridnest but could never explain why these tips die. I would just brake them.

Sounds good. Interesting though...how those tips had growth "buds" protruding from them. Thank you for the advice.
