I have just about gutted mine. I will be making a trip to Fry's for a 12vac to 12VDC converter and 2 silenX fans. From 29dBA to 11dBA with 4 more CFM per fan... I have to do it. Just wondering if anyone else has done similar. If not I will be taking pix and post in DIY.

Really think the interesting thing will be to find a transformer that will FIT in the thing. I want to put it inside so it can turn the fans on and off with the light still. And no one needs yet another plug for this thing. (3 is overkill as it is. I MIGHT try to find a 6V supply with amperage rating high enough to run the LEDs off the main power cord. I thing 2 transformers and a plug is way too much.

I got zero response to asking how to change a fan in a coralife clamp-on fixture..... Even coralife was useless in advising me where to find a small enough replacement fan. I've just lived with the rattling sound.. :(

Good Luck

Last night I installed two 92mm fans into my trim to cool MH air off the surface. Used computer case fans with the 4 pin connector. Then used a "Y" connector to go to the AC adaptor. Works great, lower noise than the dirty desk fans I did have and with the quick disconnect, I can remove the canopy without having to dig under the stand to unplug them.

Ok guys. Its done. I replaced the stock 120V fans with 2 12V 14 dBA SilenX fans. WOW what a difference. I used 6 crimps, and gutted a wall plug to auto cigarette adapter I got at frys for $7.99. The fans were $9.99 a piece. I will do the write up tomorrow, but here are the basic pix.
