Heater opinions

I'm looking for a heater for my 155 gal tank. I have an ApexLite controller so I'm thinking that I can use just the heater w/o an included controller. What wattage should I get? Is 500 watts enough and should I split it between 2 heaters? I've been looking at 2 heaters from Finnex and Won Bros as possible ones to get. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I split mine with 2 heaters in case one goes bad. And I bought mine with controllers and have them operated by a switch channel on my RKE. That way I have 2 means of control for them.

What brand heater do you have? How many total watts do you think is best?

Get two heaters sized at 65% of what you need each. So if you need 1000w of heater get two 650w heaters.

And get a temp controller, there is not one heater on the market that has a built in thermostat which is worth a crap.

To add to my decision I'm reading on the Won Bros web site that their titanium heaters are to be used only in a glass aquarium and NOT in an acrylic sump. Since that's where I plan to put my heater(s) I'm still at a loss as to how to proceed.

you will be fine putting them down there, just make sure to use the suction cup stand off things that come with it and dont let the bare metal of the heater touch the acrylic.

Or just stick it in the overflow box...
