My return pump sounded like the motor was spinning but not the impellar. I've taken the outer housing off and am trying to pull out the impellar assy but it is not coming easy and I don't want to force it if there is something I need to be aware of first. Has anyone taken one of these apart?

probably the ceramic shaft got some build up on it..

which pump are you running? (I've got a BL40HD that I could easily part with if you need a backup.. )

Thanks, Ron, I'm running the 30X but have power heads in each tank for flow so it's never an emergency. I just wouldn't want to run too long without the sump connected. I soaked the parts for a couple of hours in vinegar water, wiped them, rinsed them and dried everything well before putting it all back together. Right now everything seems to be ok, but I always worry that once I take a lot of plumbing apart that something will go wrong. I'm keeping a close eye on it for now.

I run all blueline pumps, and the ony one I ever had a problem with was one that was used as the stir pump on a kalkwasser stirrer. They had it mounted in a vertical position, with the suction side facing straight up. I redid the Nilsen so now the pump sits normally and have not had any issues since.
