Ok, so I purchased a new Apex to replace a failing ACIII. I'm out of town a lot and need to have a reliable control system on my tank. I'm actually going to be gone most all of next week and really need to get this set up asap.

Spent till 3am this morning working on it and another few hours this morning and afternoon. I have the email working, I can access via a hard wired connection and I have set up an account with dnydns as well. I have read through the unofficial guide multiple times, but it makes no sense to me. I haven't attempted to set up the wireless yet, since the guide states not to do so. Eventually this will be wireless with a Linksys game adapter. The router I'm using is a Netgear WGA 624G v 3.

Any help would be great, thanks!

You have to configure the dyndns into your router so it can forward the ip

Can you access it from device on your network (that its not hardwired to)?

If Yes, then have you setup your Dyndns account to a specific port on your router? (have you setup port forwarding on your router?)

Better yet... have you downloaded the unofficial user's guide? If not, go to RC, then the Neptune Forum. There is a sticky at the top of that forum with a link to the guide. No one should own an Apex without a copy of that on their computer.

Go through the basic steps first.

Give your Apex a static IP that conforms to the way your network is setup(192.168.0.200 for instance). Make sure to assign it an IP outside the dhcp range that your wireless router hands out.

Make sure you can connect via a hard wire.

Then make sure you can connect via wireless through that netgear router.

Go into your router and forward port 80, assuming that's what you're going to use, to that internal static IP assigned to your Apex.

I've downloaded the guide, something's just don't make a lot of sense. I'll play with it again tonight when I get home from work.

The static address can be anything that I choose? Currently my range is like 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254, I believe. So I should assign say, 192.168.1.500?

Also it was responding at one point to the iPhone Apex app, then not. Same with the hard wired option. It took my address from 192.168.1.4 and changed the last octet to 7. Didn't know why it changed, as I didn't change it. I'm tech savy enough sometimes, but lacking in this instance.

Just assign it something like 192.168.1.50... that'd work just fine. If you assign it that address in the router AND in the Apex, it wont create any issues.

It may have been working on your iPhone because you were on your home network.

Alright, after working on this for the past 2+ hours, I finally got it up and running. Both wired and wireless!

Thanks for the support and ideas folks! :yay:

Now I just have to program the outlets and profiles, well maybe before work tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your offer, it's greatly appreciated. I may still have to take you up on that if it fails on me.
