HELP! I have a leak!!

Tank is stable with the bar clamps. Builder came by the next morning and we're working on a plan. Me thinks full tank break down is in my future! Oh joy...

A full tank breakdown is IMO the only way to deal with this tank properly. Once a tank is comprimised it is in essence trash IMO.

Being that this thread is public and it seems a few people want some answers, I feel compelled to make a statement.

First for those members and users that decided that the risk of me building your tank was just too risky. I UNDERSTAND wholehartedly and your deposits will refunded minus 20% for restock of the glass. The restock fee will only apply if the glass was delivered before June 2, 2010. Others, you are welcome to your entire deposit back.

For those of you that have placed orders over the past week, your support is paramount and you will enjoy this process.

For those that have made their assumptions and specutlations already. Take a good look in the mirror and make some changes.:D

Trey, my friend, we all make mistakes and that is exactly why when this:

happened and you told me "you had know idea that it could cause an issue" I replaced the top brace that broke. Since then I have fixed and repaired this system MULTIPLE times. Virtually every repair was done at no cost to you and for that I am PROUD. I have gone above the call of duty in being there for you whenever you needed my guidance and support. I only want to see you with the system you truly desire. Upon delivery of the completly broke down, dissasembled and rebuilt tank that is now leaking, We agreed that "that was it" I could no longer afford to continue this process. The tank was water tested for 72hrs. after curing for some time. (I DID NOT PLACE THIS TANK)The tank was place on a piece of 3/4" underlayment on stand but the foam was not installed under the back inch or so of the tank. Subsequently the tank was leaning back a bit. Although it only was like that for a couple of days, I am of the opinion that "this is what most likely caused the failure of this tank."

As some people are aware of other similiar situations that took place with tank and several other repairs that were done, I dont see the need to hash out or to bring them out in this arena. Trey and I have not yet had one cross word and I expect that will continue. Neither of us have tried to play hardball or hold anything over each others heads.

Unfortunatly there is not much more that I can do concerning this tank.

My thoughts are you pay for me to rebuild it and I will set it into its final resting place for free.

I agree with this entire post, sincerely. As you can see from the picture, I messed up the first time and it just seemed to snowball from there.

Not only was this tank water tested 72 hours by Chris, it was water tested a full WEEK by me (with pumps running and everything). Chris is right, when the tank was placed I failed to make sure the foam went all the way to the back. There is another thread on this site about the use of foam on trimless tanks and I can offer this advice. Personally, I would NEVER set a trimless tank without foam (or any tank for that matter). Additionally, I agree with Chris that the lack of foam on the last inch is what caused this issue. This just goes to show everyone how important a level tank is!

For those of you with tanks in process or tanks on order from Chris, I will tell you that I personally know of many other builds that have never had ANY issue at all. In fact, I'm pretty sure mine is the only one he's EVER had a problem with. I believe in my heart of hearts that this is not an issue with build quality whatsoever. If it were, would I still be messing with him? :) Nope, I would have cut my losses or contacted my lawyer a long time ago. I am one picky SOB, for the most part, and getting my money's worth is important. Chris is absolutely correct when he says he's gone above and beyond in this case. If anyone is contemplating canceling their orders with him, please PM me first and I will rehash what Chris is not willing to out of respect for me. I'll also offer you the details of his level of care and service that I'm sure he's not going to flaunt in this particular forum and situation.

Chris and I have shared many, MANY conversations over this process. We both worked closely to design a system that I promise you does not exist anywhere else. If you go back to my original build thread you'll see the innovation that went into the tank which Chris had a big part of.

You want a simple glass box? Fine, Chris can build that for you, no problem. You want something "outside the box"? That's where he will shine for you!

Chris, I'll give you a shout later to discuss the plan. I'm hoping we don't need to fully break the tank apart, but just the back glass!

I LOVE my tank that Chris Built and installed for me about a year ago! Besides the front falling off, it's been great! J/K!!!!!!!!!!!!no, it's perfect!

Is there any other way? Chris and I quickly became friends during our build. I should add that his store is not exactly close to me, so I don't shop there too often. Does that stop him from spending time with me answering questions about what's going on in my tank? Nope...

Saved everyone the trouble, Ralph...from your thread:

"Ok, so Chris shows up at 1:30 pm, and just left at 9:30 pm. You just can't get that quality & service anywhere. I am so glad that I went went Chris instead of glasscages. The tank & stand is just beautiful with 3 sides startfire and euro bracing. The stand is higher, stained in a red mahogany, crown molding,& 2 doors (large front access & one side). The tank has 2 drains, 1 return with 4 lock-lines, black acrylic case over glass overflow, black acrylic box on back of tank for cables, & a freakin's Bird netting top, to boot! WOW! bells & whistles! One snafu was that my gorgeous brittle-star took off and got between the 1/4 inch space in my aga overflow (between outer wall, and plastic outer part that has the holes. Well, Chris took some money off my cost and bought my old setup, but said, "I can always make a new overflow" and he cut it up to save that creature. 45 minutes later, chris puts it in tank."
