Hi I have a small leak around the threads on the discharge port of my Reeflo snapper and teflon tape is not fixing the problem. What else can I use to seal the threads? Will teflon pipe dope be safe to use? I have some Rectorseal Tplus2 pipe thread sealant, will this work? The tank has fish and corals so I need the pump online ASAP.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The Teflon tape should work better than the other stuff. What is connected to the threads on the pump?

Teflon or pipe dope should be work. Whatever you do do not try to overtighten as the housing can and will crack. I once used epoxy to fix temp. until I could get some waterproofing tape from West Marine. Another option could be to use marine sealant around the threads but you will nedd to let it dry for a while. As long as you have powerheads moving water across the rocks you will be fine for a while but monitor temps in the display.

Where in dallas are you (general area)? I will be back from church around 4:00 and can help you figure it out if the need be?

OK cool. Q#1 1 1/2 MPT fitting screwed into the discharge port that is where it is leaking from. Q#2 Narroway (SP) church circle off 61.

I have tried the tape and it's not working for me I,m not a plumber.:lol2:

Shoot me a pm with your phone number and I will call right after church around 4:00 and I will swing by and maybe help you.

My dart was having the same issue at one point.. We backed out the adapter that was screwed into the threads, taped the hell out of it and snugged it all the way with a pair of channel locks and that was that..

Mine also leaked but it was at the seam of the housing. Ended up having to call Reeflo sending out a new one. However I would recommend silicon.
