Does anyone know if a fish bites a porky puffer and the puffer inflates while still in the mouth of that fish, will the puffer secrete a toxin?

Don't have a clue, but this might get more attention in "reef discussion" than the new members area.

Ok, Ill post in the reef section as my snapper seems a little messed up now....

Sorry you're having trouble and I wish I had more experience with this fish to be able to help you. Hopefully someone here will know, but also, you need to research more about the fish before you try to care for one. It will make less stress for you in the end! :)

The snapper made it through. :D

Thanks Tex for the input, I ALWAYS do my research before any new purchase, there is just very limited information regarding the toxins in puffers on the internet.

When I had the 1000g tank, the grouper sometimes would accidentally gobble the puffer's tail at feeding time, with a mouthful of food. Puffer would inflate, grouper would let go, and everything would return to normal.

I have never experienced a puffer (or boxfish/cowfish) releasing toxins into a tank, nor have I met anyone who had, but the possibility does exist.
