i have all my rodi water in my tank and everything is running but the sand is also in and i have no salt in it yet so i was wondring if it was okay to go ahead and put the salt directly in and also put the 1lb of free live rock i got in please help asap im a meganoob

How many gallons are we dealing with? Possibly drain a small percentage and make a batch of extra salty water to add until you reach your salinity level, then let circulate at a lower rate for a while (couple of hours) to let all of the water mix? This will pre-dissolve your salt and possibly prevent a big mound of salt on your sand and a possible sand storm while trying to mix the dry salt. Either way it'll eventually dissolve, but this may be a little neater.

Not yet, but keep your eyes on it. They go from one extreme to the other sometimes when new. Just needs time to break in.

Your skimmer needs time to create a foam head before it will start pulling anything out its nothing to stress about. Just watch it closely it will foam up eventually.

Ok. Is it making bubbles at all? What kind is it? Remember we are dealing with new water here, so there's not much junk for it to pull out of the water column.

+1. Just let it keep circulating overnight. eventually, the salt will have no choice but to dissolve. May need to aim your powerhead at the salt sitting on the sand to help...

I would pull out a few gallons in a 5gal bucket and mix it and pour it back in. It will take some time but I would do that rather than dumping salt into the tank.

exactly right thats what i did with my first tank and it took almost a week for all the salt to disolve on top of the sand cause i was only running a canister filter at the time and some of it got mixed down into the sand and ended up disolving more than a week after that and my salinity ended up at 1.030

if your salinity is low right now then stir the sand and put some clarity in to clear that mess up and see if it comes up after a day and repeat a couple times and then add more salt if its not high enough
I always add fresh water, higher concentrated salt water to the overflow, I figure it gets the most mixing before entering the main display. Since you don't have anything it it yet, just make sure the salt doesn't settle to the bottom as has been pointed out.
