Found this guy on my glass after bringing home some new corals yesterday. Went through the hitchhiker a guide but couldn't find a good match. This photo is his belly. Will try to get a pic from above when he moves to where that is possible.

TIA

Asterina star , They are reef safe but iv been told they eat coralline algae.
I see them from time to time in my system.

Wow - thanks for the quick ID. I thought it was a type of star but the dropped appendages through me into thinking it was something more bizarre.

yes @amberjack - I just joined 4 or 5 months back and had been lurking. Finally able to start stocking my tank about 3-4 weeks ago and have been going real slow, so it's easy to spot stuff I didn't pay for right now!

The ones without a dot are harmless and the one with a dot are harmful from what I have read. My tank is full of asterina, My kids and I like them.

What size tank is it ?

It's a 225 gallon. I wanted the big one but this was a compromise with the wife 😉

If that is the compromise what was the one you wanted. LOL. Nice tank and welcome to the madness. :-)

ARC....so nerdy our President breaks bones while bowling. :-)

I got the same question as rich!! If this was a compromise what size DID you want?? Welcome to the ARC. I've got lots of those things in my tank. The wife likes all star fish so of course they stay;)

If your gonna be part of this club, your gonna have to get use to that! lol more pics!

This is the marineland 72x24x30. There are a few brief moments where the 30" water column is a pita, but as I'm sitting here typing this and staring in its awesome.

I'll put some more pics up this week.
