Water clarity and Cyano fix

Just used this mix on my 210 after a good cleaning and water change today. I stirred the water up pretty good and there were plenty of floating particles after. Here’s some pics of the progress from putting it in to 3 hours later where it’s beautifully clear. Will definitely be using this in the future! I say give it a good 3 hours to be really clear.

I have noticed an alk difference after dosing. I dosed for a week and a half every day and now I'm on once a week. While the DIY doesn't raise your alk it does seem to effect consumption. Before I was dosing 23 ml per day and alk was at a steady 8.3. After being on this regimine 23 ml will raise my alk about .1 a day. I cut back to 20 ml per day and my alk remains constant. I believe (I'm no scientist), the outlying things (not coral) consuming alk before are no longer wasting the extra alk being added to the tank. I've seen better growth and coloration in my corals over the last few weeks after the DIY started. Hence, I'm having to dose less than I was before. Just letting people know they should monitor ALK because consumption/efficiency could change for you as well..which is a good thing.

That thread is linked on the first page. Randy explains why the calcium carbonate does NOT raise your alkalinty. This is why I think..again..I think, it rids the system of things wasting alk by cleansing it from whatever it is that does..haha. How's that for exact science!

It's only for flocculants...nothing else.

As a flocculant it works great. The water in my DT has never been this clear. I will be continuing to use it myself.

I started doing this during my water changes / vacuuming sand bed. At first, I didn’t see much a difference but after several weeks of doing it, its amazing how clear it is. I also do it when I blow my rocks off.
