How do weather change affect PH

So with the wild weather swings we have been having I have started to wonder how this affects the PH in our tanks. For instance, people say you can raise PH by opening a window allowing fresh air in the house. Seems to me when the barometric pressures change so rapidly the off gassing would be affected and PH would have some wild swings. Just an assumption. I would love to hear from some of the more knowledgeable.

I believe that weather influences on tank pH is more related to the amount of outside air entering the house, probably affected by outside temperature. In other words, in winter we keep our houses closed up, so the concentration of CO2 in the air is higher, which leads to an increase in the equilibrium concentration in our tanks, which means a lower pH. Is spring/summer we keep out windows open more, which leads to a decreased CO2 concentration in the air in the house, which means less CO2 dissolved in the tank, which means a higher pH all other things being constant.

Your logic makes sense, but is this documented? Sounds like a cool science fair experiment for some middle school kids.

Well than I should be golden. LOL When the wind blows my house doesn't even slow it down. Just blows right through. LOL I just see lots of changes in my tank over the past couple of weeks. I haven't change much other than to up my dosing of two part a bit. I have also seen lots of threads with people asking what's wrong with certain stuff. Just thought maybe the big swings in the weather might have had something to do with.

Thanks for the response Dave. :-)

The means and/or efficiency by which your house is heated can influence ph as well. Gas furnaces and water heaters emitting CO2 in a basement where some of us keep or sumps can have a large impact.

Unfortunately, that isn't my problem. First I have no basement ($#@@#%) second I have a total electric house (double *$&#@&^@). LOL
