I have a 55 Gallon tank that I picked up that has a broken center brace. Is there a best method for fixing these. My only thought was to create my own center brace and fix that with plastic screws to the top of the frame. Any help is appreciated.

Can you order a replacement from All Glass or something?????

One member actually cut his and replaced with an acrylic one,

I replaced the entire top frame of mine when it cracked. the tank was full of water at the time. I called Sam at Aqua Buys. He ordered one and it was just a mater of cutting and pulling old one off. After that some fresh silicone on the new one, put the new one on the glass and all done.

good luck....

Pm and I can give you my # and will coach or help as i can..

This actually works really really well. I replaced the black crossbeam with clear acrylic on my 40g using nylon screws as suggested on the thread to avoid any rust, etc.. Made all the difference in the world for lighting. I guess the question is where is it broken? If it is near the glass you may need to replace the top frame, if it's in the middle you should be able to replace it and as an added bonus reduce any shadowing depending on the lighting you may be going with.
