Yup,
Palythoa - just brown and most consider them undesirable, but nor harmful...
(Interestingly your picture is titled "Hydroids", any reason?)

Because I was freaking out it was them.... Whats really funny is I don't know what they are just that they are bad!

Not bad at all but they can spread at a decent speed. Might want to drop the rock to the sandbed or isolate a lil bit.

Is it a fairly new tank or fairly new rock? Sometimes palys that show up have been starved for light and are pretty ugly, but occasionally turn out to be pretty once they get some good light and color up again.

yeah leave em there and let them grow you'll have a lot in a short time

I've got a rock full of them. They do spread but I kinda like them. Plus, they're good to give away when someone wants to try their hand at palys.

Just to be sure, what do they do if you touch them? Does just the head close or does the whole body collapse? I think it is a little unusual for button polyps to be isolated individuals but maybe I've just never seen that particular type.

Now I have two more popping out since I last posted.... Beginning to think they are something else.

Way out on a limb here but I think they be a type of hydroid. See the little ones around it. By chance have the tentacles on the skirt gotten longer? I first thought droid, then paly but possibly aptasia.
