Already doing so he has acrylic already so that will be used. I have to wait for my next check before i can send him the money to buy the parts but after that he said a week. I will keep ya posted on the progress.

That was kind of my thought! Really cool but not very pretty to look at.

yeah, no. Not for me. Good luck with it, i couldn't stand seeing that thing in there.

I think that would work great for people with frag tanks or other tanks that don't necessarily NEED to look pretty.

$200 on eBay... paddle is 11" x 4" and they suggest mounting in the center of the tank.

Interesting concept. If it replaces power heads I don't really see how it is any uglier than some K4's in the tank. just my $.02

+ 1 big one!

I had 2 K1's in my 30 Long once and knew it was a mistake from the get-go.

Big ugly pumps those are, where as the wave device would just be distracting.

I think it would be cool if tanks were manufactured with this type of device already integrated into it somehow.

I really like the effect.

The effect rocks. No pun intended. A short cycle timer on power heads would probably give the same effect... I just don't know about cycling the heads that often. Might burn em up pretty quick. I have seen some device for return from the sump that uses water pressure to switch currents at a T fitting alternating current from left to right. I will have to look back into that.

Switching current water director....fascinating little piece!

Yesss Sir!!! That would be it. Considering such a contraption.

The problem is, while this provides nice rocking flow back and forth, it doesn't provide any flow that gets the particulates to the sump. The point of devices like a Tunze Wavebox is to keep the detrius in suspension so the powerheads can kick it up into the overflow(s) so it's filtered out. This is why Tunze recommends other pumps be used for circulation in addition to their Waveboxes.

yea i plan on running one korilia 4 at first see wat t does then possibly take it off and see the diff.As far as uglyness of the paddle i think there are many ways it coud be hiddin givin some tought it, it dont have to be deep in the water so unless you bend over and look int tank you may not even see it. As far as cleaning yes if he dont make it removable i will mod it to be able to remove it for cleaning. If this works which i see no way it wont, i belive it will make a great addition to my tank for the cost of wat he is making it for me. I am still waiting on my workmans comp check to come in so i can pay him to build it. Again far as looks my tank is for me not the public i think i can live with this, but i think i can hide it.

Also, make sure your friend knows that this device will be completely and totally inundated with salt creep. That will make a big deal. There is a large commercial version of this known as an Olioid, or something, and its all titanium, for said reason. That being said, this device looks like it is only good for aesthetic purposes. Even in the promotion video, it does show water moving very well at all.
