So, I am pretty sure that I need to battle some ich. I just swapped tanks and now ich is definitely on one fish and spreading to others. No additional fish have been added in a while.

I am familiar with the life cycle. I understand copper works very well.

Is my best shot at survival to move all my fish to QT and treat with copper? I guess that I could keep the fish in QT for a while but what about the inverts? Will they be fine for a while in the tank alone for weeks?

Yes. I would recommending if possible moving to a quarantine tank. Also medicated food works well.

And i don't really know what to say about the inverts...

Inverts will not be affected by ich.

+1. As long as it doesn't get out of control.

YES! and YES! and one more time...remove & treat...YES!

I got ich in my tank a long time ago and I went and bought a powder medicine you mix in with the frozen fish food cubes and within a week it was gone i used the stuff for a while afterwards just to be safe but that stuff worked amazingly for me and I never moved any fish or inverts

I leave mine in the tank and heavily treat with metro and focus the day I see it. Moving them to a QT can exacerbate the problem and turn it into full blown ich. Treat with metro and focus, garlic guard, give it a week to 2, it will be gone.

Try to get them to eat an use garlic in there food. Your fish are all stressed and that's what brought on the ICH. If there healthy fish and eat, then they can fight it and they will recover.

If there extremely covered and the parasites are irritating them to the point where there not eating then I was suggest a fresh water dip and or copper dip. You'll need to make sure the water temperature is the same as what's in your tank before your dip.

The thing is you may kill what's on the fish but the parasites and eggs are still in your water. A UV or Ozone will help with killing what's in the water. ICH relies on a host and your fish are the host. They will lay eggs every 45 or so days and once the parasites hatch from the eggs they'll be looking for a host and that's why you'll need to build up the fishes immune system. Good Luck!!

Make sure you do some small water changes to conteract the extra feeding with the metro and focus. Feed the whole tank 3-5 times a day, also it helps to add garlic and selcon. Holley:D

Okay, I will drop by this weekend.

Edit: So if you guys are using focus, I am assuming that you are feeding rather than dosing the tank ?

I'm not using either if that's what you're asking. But usually when I treat fish I'll use it, it works better with a higher temperature. A higher temp speeds up the life cycle of ich. I have some kanaplex too that I've heard good things about, haven't tried it for myself though.

Edit: Oh I think I understand now, I don't dose the tank with it. I do 1 part merto and 2 part focus mixed in frozen food.

If you want to eradicate Cryptocaryon</em> then you MUST remove all fish and treat in a hospital tank. If you want to manage it then leave your fish in there and hope for the best.

Garlic does not kill ich. Cleaner shrimp do not remove ich. The affect of metro/focus or any other "reef safe" options on "curing" ich is anecdotal at best.

FWIW, feeding food laced with metro and focus worked for me. Cured my blue tang of it completely, and it never came back.

Thanks for all the help guys.

My basslet was doing the poorest. He wasn't eating or swimming yesterday morning. I pulled him out, placed him in a hospital tank with copper treatment. A day and a half later he is swimming. round again. I haven't seen him eat again yet, but hopefully soon.

I started the metro/focus treatment today. My remaining three fish show little signs of ich. They are still eating. I will monitor them closely. If I do not see improvements in the coming days, I will pull them out as well.

Buy a Cleaner Wrasse ASAP. Others may not agree so much but mine did way more way quicker than any chem.
