Ick and black ick the same time!!! :(

do you have a qt/med tank? which fish are infected?

freshwater dip can cure black ich....it cured my yellow tang very quickly
just research the freshwater dip to make sure you do it correctly

fw dips are dangerous. ONLY because you are highly likely to do it incorrectly. It is very difficult to maintian the proper ph in fw.

It's easier to do a formalin dip.

I take tank water, add formalin 3 AND methelyene blue with an airstone. I usually dip the fish from 30 mins to an hour at a time.

Remember, just because you can't see ich on the outside, doesn't mean that the fish is not infected.

If you can't do a med tank, then your best bet is just to feed, feed and feed. I soak the food in garlic and increase the feedings. If the fish are well fed and happy, they will fight off the infection naturally. Maintain your water quality via multiple water changes.

Re: question
I got mine out of the tank in about 20 seconds. Every time I remove a fish, I wait till the lights have been out in the tank for several hours then I turn on my VHO's....you could do the main lights too if you dont have any actinics. I just turn those on because they pop on fast unlike my halides. The fish will usually come out in a drunk like stuper and you should be able to swoop them up right away. Fish's eyes take a bit to adjust to drastic light changes. That little flaw works great for us fellow reefers :) Good luck and let me know how it works for you."

I too am battling Ich. I have been using SeaChem Metronidazole along with SeaChem Focus adding it to the food. The fish seem to be getting better but its not gone yet.

Skriz... Thank you bro... I used no meds. just A LOT of food, garlic, and 2 cleaning shrimp, and 2 neon gobis.

That's what it's all about! Glad you got everything under control and you did it right; the natural way! :)

KILLJOY ALERT!!!

Your ick is likely not gone at all. It has a very specific life cycle, and there is a period where the fish will not show symptoms, but it will probably come back, and come back hard. What steps/treatments have you taken. Maybe I am underestimating your efforts.
