Well so much for perfect water conditions. It looks like I got ick or something. Broke my own rule last saturday and spent more than $50 on a fish.

Just bought a cleaner wrass and added Metronidazole to their food. All but the tang is eating...unfortunately that is the one that is the most infected. I heard garlic works.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Hippos are notorious for their crypto afflications.

Reduce stress, keep water quality in check and get him eating. Once eating, keep him fed well and you'll be fine. Dimming the lights does wonders for stress control.

For future reference, if you would have qt'd him, you wouldve have a chance to work on his feeding one on one without worrying about the other inhabitants.

How do I get him eating. He was eating flake yesterday. That do you think about the meds?
Thank you

Metro tastes disgusting, so he's likely not going to want to touch the food. Adding garlic or Focus will help counteract the nastiness of the Metro.

Meds are completely unecessary in treatment, though. Turn off the lights and keep ambient lighting dim. This will help calm things down a bit. Then try some garlic or focus dipped nori and see if he'll eat. Keep offering him food throughout the day until he accepts it. You can also try some live foods. I know Marine Designs keeps live brine in stock for cheap. The fish is stressed, the last thing on his mind is food. You have to change that first before he'll eat.

You can squeeze the fresh garlic. All you're doing is flavouring the food to make it more appetizing.

It a tang, try seaweed sheets. Can soak them in garlic guard as well.
