Could someone help me please ID the picture? It seems to be some sort of slug or flatworm. It was approximately 1 inch in length when elongated. I was wondering if it was reef safe. Sorry for the poor picture quality. It was taken from a phone.

I've never seen a flatworm that's an inch long. Take it out when you can. You can keep it in your sump or some other place separate from your main tank until you figure out what it is. Maybe I'm jaded; I haven't had much luck getting good hitchikers.

It's a type of flatworm. What kind I dunno. Here's a link to search. Other good places to search at the bottom of the page

Looks like it the 4th flatworm in the melev's reef webpage. The clam eating flatworm

How would I go about removing the flatworm? I have seen it only once and it was at 4 am.

You could try and catch it but I wouldn't worry about it. There is a treatment for flatworms but that's more for an infestation and typically a last resort. If it isn't doing any harm I would still try and get rid of it but I wouldn't lose sleep if I couldn't. Sometimes trying to catch stuff does more damage to the system that just leaving it alone.

Polyclads are susceptible to flatworm exit, like planaria flatworms. And they are usually predatory. However, unless you catch them out, there's little you can typically do.
