So the other day I noticed several of these.....

I have a thought as to what it is, but would prefer to hear what my fellow reefers think with out prejudice. Please spare me the aliens or other such lame comments.

Looks like a tiny snail of some sorts.

looks like the markings similar to a cowrie but it seems to be pointed on one side where cowries usually aren't.

Thanks for the responses. I know this sounds a little unlikely, but I think the astreas in my tank have spawned. My reasoning is that the tank has been up for almost 8 months, with no additions in almost 5 months. Until yesterday, I haven't seen anything like it. Granted I cannot rule other creatures out entirely, but I must confess it sure looks like an astrea to me.

Keep in mind I am a noobe so you may want to disregard my thoughts but......

I had something that looked like that and was told it was a sponge. Your pic doesn't look exactly like what I had but pretty close.

I realize the pic isn't the best, but it isn't sponge. It moves..

So did mine. It could have been due to flow but if you watch the video closely it also changes shape and appears to be moving on it's own. But again, I could be totally off base here. Or, maybe I listened to the wrong people and what I had isn't a sponge. LOL

+1. Look at night when the lights go out. In my 120 there are thousands of those little guys and they seem to graze at night.

These are out during the day, but that is a guess that is probably correct. Guess I'm going to wait and see...

I still see some during the day but there are a ton more that come out at night.

I have these in my nano. I swear one day they weren't there, then the next day like thousands covering rock, just a few get on my glass. Most annoying thing is they get in my MP10 and clog it until I see pieces flying out.
