Hi,

One of these showed up in my tank a few months ago and now they are spreading (and moving). They look like mini anemone's and are dime to quarter sized with green or brown tentacles. I think one of them has stung me a couple of times while I've had my hand in the tank doing cleaning. I just want to find out if they are ok to have around or if I need to get rid of them as pests.

Thanks,

Mark

You should be able to scrape those ones off and remove them easily enough.

If they are elsewhere too, then Aiptasia X or similar will nuke 'em.

majano's. turn all pumps off and nuke with AptasiaX. Be sure there is no coral under your target that the stuff can run down on.
Don't get in too big a hurry while applying, and move/turn/flip all your rock to hunt for the rest of 'em. Probably best to assume if you see some, you have others as well.
They won't hurt anything, but they will be everywhere if you leave 'em be.

+1 on aiptasia X. Love the stuff.

I don't know if I would scrape them tho. I know the aiptasia will dump its seeds if you bother it, not sure about majo.

I would expect to find more as those suckers spread.
