Hello,

I was a member a few years back. I am getting back into the hobby and took delivery of a 50g Artisan Cadlights last night.

I can't seem to get my bulkheads not to leak.

Wondering if any bulkhead experts out there in my area who would be willing to help in person. I have never had a drilled tank only a nano. I am trying to do everything the right way the first time and experience counts.

I was thinking maybe someone out there is curious about the cadlights 50, or the led light and wants to see it in person. I have a hunch we might need to make a trip for plumbing or stuff and it would take a while, so I'd also throw in $50 for gas and time, or for my fellow hobbyist to get something fun or needed at the LFS.

Thanks in advance,
Ken

I may be able to swing by some time today. PM me and I'll send you my contact info. My first guess is the gasket on the bulkhead. It should be on the wet side of the glass not on the nut side. Check that out first...

Gaskets on both sides and flange on the inside nut on the outside.

Edit:

Edit: Brand new. Look ok to me. I suspect its me somehow.

Lfs agreed. Also got new gaskets as mine seemed a little firm. Thanks for the offers of help. Hopefully i have this on my own. Will post outcome/plea for help if needed

Thanks

Just as another suggestion, you may want to put a little vasaline on the gasket side which contacts the glass. This wil help with making a good connection.

Hello all.

Picked up new bulkheads at the LFS. I think either I should have used only one gasket, or the gasket was a little harder than normal. Probably could have made it work.

Either way, the new standard bulkheads fit a little better as its a tight opening in the cabinet, and the softer gasket took care of the leak.

Thanks for all the help.

Hope to see everyone soon at a meeting.

Ken
