Hi, I decided to change out my bio-pellet/phosban combo to Matrix carbon/phosban combo in 2 of LTF 150 reactor...

I am running Maxijet 1200 connected to both reactor~~~ I have reactor filled halfway with matrix carbon...

but it is tumbling a bit... Phosban is not tumbling...

any suggestions will be very helpful~~~ Thanks in advance >.<

no tumbling carbon is bad. you want it packed tight in the reactor.

Dang... Thanks... Im gonna need to buy smaller pump... is there any ways to adjust the flow rates on maxijet flow rate?

Yes they will have small valve fittings in either HD or Lowes in the plumbing section that you can buy for aound 6 bucks.

I also like to run my TLF 150 packed full of carbon. It should have come with a small ball valve, unless you bought it used and the OO kept it.

I have valve connected where line splits between two
so, even I put ball valve to reduce the flow rate, the powerhead will be okay? Like the life if the power head? Thanks

wait now, carbon needs to be packed into the top of your reactor instead of sitting in the bottom. You use the top sponge and the middle sponge to pack it up top. You don't have it resting on the bottom like gfo etc. you don't want to reduce flow to achieve this, this is conterproductive because carbon likes stronger flow. Understand what I mean. If not go to the bulk reef supply website and they have a video explaining it bro. Lemme know

Great~~~ Thanks for the info!!! I had it filled up to all the way except for like 3 inches to the top sponge... I will get this done tommorow for sure!!!

Thanks for all you guys help ^^

I take that back... as I was doing research... Bulk reef supply indicated:

Step 2
Adjust flow rate. Activated carbon works best with lower flow rates and long contact times. Please make sure the carbon is not tumbeling.

I have it filled to the top but I think I need to adjust the flow anyways~~~
