Rich -

Get some AptasiaX. I've got some if you want.. it keeps them from spreading spores around the tank.. def a good way to go.

Good call... Aptasia X works well for killing individual aptasia, but it will absolutely destroy an SPS colony if the aptasia is near by.

I had an aptasia problem and recently invested in a file fish.... over the past few weeks, I have seen the aptasia slowly getting eaten away.

I never had any success with Aiptasia-X or kalk. I used the "napalm" recipe and my one aiptasia FINALLY "stayed dead".

Really?! I've never had a single issue with aptasiax... Only time it's a little tricky is when the aptasia is too small too latch on but otherwise it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Rich's looks plenty large to nuke easily... And you can watch the little bugger implode right on the spot... Pretty cool.

I stand behind aptasiax. You have to be careful, of course, but I've used it with great success.

LOL I think the guy who gave me that coral needs to come nuke it out of my tank. :-)

I have some Aptasia X. Not long after starting my tank I saw one sprout out of a rock. Hit it one time and it never came back again. The one in this picture is on the side of a rock that has a Bleeding Apple Scoly on it. That is the coral you can see on the edge of the pick. I zoomed in so it appears bigger than it really is. There is another one on the front of the rock that is even smaller.

Couple of questions before I attempt this:
1. Where this is located will make it difficult to get a good approach to the Aptasia, expecially the smaller one. I addition, when the scoly is fully open, it overhangs them both. If I pick the rock up, I am thinking the scoly will retract making it easier. But, will that also make the Aptasia retract as well?
2. Because the scoly is so close, do I risk damage to it if some of the Aptasia X hits it?

Not a bad idea if that really works. Would super glue gel do it? That would avoid the chance of getting the Aptasia X in contact with the coral. Would love to know what others think about this option.

Looks like I has a small Aptasia popping up inside a Zoa. Can I hit with "X" without hurting the Zoa?

That settles it for me. I am going with the supper glue. Much easier to be sure I don't damage the scoly. Besides, I need to glue a couple of new frags that were given to me by Ripped Tide. :-)

Absolutely. Manual removal for sure. Adding peppermint shrimp can help after that.

This could be a stupid question, but can you do the super glue method underwater or do you need to remove the coral to operate?

I still believe the aiptasia x success is due to the needle they provide because it actually penetrates. Same recipe (ish) as most but you get it in the pest nem.
Get a syringe with a thick sharp needle from your local drug store or clinic yourself and use your own method. Boiling water even works like this

I just got my tank going again and looks likes I have some aptasia and because of this I got a peppermint shrimp and he has been in the tank for 24hrs but has not eaten any of the aptasia.
If this continues it seems like the superglue method is drawing lots of praise. Do you just put the glue in their mouth or ?.
