Yes say it aint so but I have finally finished up my open water dive cert! Started in August did the classroom and pool work but never had a chance to go do the open water test...even paid once and had to cancel. Finally went down to Blue Grotto and Troy Springs in Florida and finished up this weekend. Got down to 70ft at Troy springs which was pretty amazing although i didnt see crap it was just cool being down there! Cant wait to get out in the ocean! Might be ocean voyager first though lol...Just wanted to share! :yay:

Yeah and I guess I need to get dive cert. too, lol. Its just coming up with 600 bux to piss away. Thats hard! One day tho, one day.

I hear ya man its expensive at first but totally worth it!

Yeah for real. I called Adventures in Diving and got the price quote. Just trying to save the money and do it. Where did you end up going to do your class work?

Nice! Welcome to the world of diving....

Next step, Advanced and Rescue diving.....then you can relax and dive...

Todd i am doing Nitrox next then advanced then rescue...thanks everybody!

Lee I did mine through Divers Supply and the treated me well. Adventures in Diving has great service to I checked them out as well. Diversupply is like 2miles from my house so it was extra convenient.

a> good stuff!

I won't ever dive on regular air, just nitrox, but that is just me. I love the geezer gas. When pulling 5 dives a day on Air, I am whopped at the end of the day. When diving 5 dives a day on nitrox I am ready to party afterwards. It is worth it for me for the extra cost. In places like florida you can by it for 6 cents a cubic foot and it is dirt cheap that way.

Congrats on your cert. Troy springs can be a decent dive, just depends on the timing. Jack and the boys at divers supply are great and I highly recommend them.

Troy Springs was great until all the **** got kicked up and it turned black instantly at around 70ft. I was one of the first down so i got to enjoy it for a few minutes until the rest got down then it was crap visibility but still fun.

LOL, now you know why it is always important to get out to the springs early before the classes get there. Those fins are deadly and like rototillers. What would help this problem is if they taught different finning techniques in basic open water. Teaching new people how to frog kick when they are near silt/the bottom would help combat that problem. Instead they take new open water students and put them in 10 foot of water on the bottom and they scissor kick and trash the viz.
