Yup... I can NOT figure out what is going on here. My tank will thrive for about 4 weeks then bam color loss and tissue necrosis on the SIDE of the SPS.. not the top... just along each SIDE. Then it recovers and BAM there it goes again.
Parameters seem ok
NO3 at 5ish
ALK (which is always my first guess) is 8.9
You guys know me well enough to know I'm running t5 lights, and the lights are plenty adequate.
I'm pulling the heater, and going to look for a new one realizing that it COULD have a short somewhere in the tank and be zapping the tank at night when the water gets cool. I'd never notice it since the lights keep it warm during the day.
I'm also going to pull the sump and clean it all out with a hose and reinstall. Thankfully I set the system up with an easy to pull sump on purpose.
scratching my head... I know I should be able to figure this out.. but i just can't find the issue and solve it long term.
Frustrated - ME
