The splash guard on BC29 is cracked and hazy. I was wondering if I could just remove the splash guard all together and leave the leds I just put in unshielded?
If not what ideas can you give to remedy this besides just ordering a replacement which seems to very difficult to find?

Send Oceanic an email. Mine was in the same condition and they replaced it free of charge, no shipping or anything. You can also buy them for around 30 bucks from steviet, the mediabasket guy.

says backordered so it will be a week.

Dont use LED's that close to the water without a shield, you'll be replacing LED's fast..

And just to add to that, I am not the original owner of the tank, the tank has been highly modified (including the hood), and I am sure it has been out of the initial warranty for a while now lol.

After a while the only cure would be buffing it I would think. But then the heat does start to make it brittle and it breaks. IMO it's worth $30 if you can't get them to just send you one.

I agree but mine is beyond repair. If Oceanic does not send me a replacement I am going to purchase a new one.
