I changed from an 8 bulb t5 fixture to the black box style leds on my 120. So far so good, the sps really love the brighter light, zoas seem fine, hammer is ehh, and mushrooms are not happy. I assume they are still getting acclimated. I am doing 4 hrs the first week then working my way up to 8 by weekly 1 hr incriments. My vision is suffering from the extreme light from gazing too much. Other experiences with acclimation would be much appreciated.

I went to 3 of the black box units on my 120 from a 2-250W 4-54W MH/T5 combo. With the original fixture I ran the T5 (all Actinic) from 12N until 9PM daily and ran the MH from 2PM to 8PM daily. The first week I ran just the blues with the LED from 2PM to 8PM and all lights from 3PM to 7PM. Over the course of the next two weeks I bumped to where I am now which is blues from 1PM to 9PM and all on from 2PM to 8PM. The only adverse affects I saw on my coral was with a monti that was ~12" below the water surface (my leds are canopy mounted and less than 5" off the water line). It lost its coloration for about a month but did not loose polyp extension and its colors (darker purple) are coming back now.

Does "what shadow" answer your question:thumbs:. I have the outside units running perpindicular with the tank and the middle parallel for now. But have intentions to add one more as I do have "outer shadow" in the corners where there is enough light for my personal preference

Wink - what LED's did you go with? Got a link or anything?

I ordered 2 120w units for my 72g bow front.. should arrive Thursday and I'm stoked. I can't wait!

probably ones very similar to the ones you ordered. 2 on that 72 will be more than enough. Im thinking of getting one more for my 120.

my SPS are growing like mad, but I bleached out several zoas and acans. I'm currently back on the market for a new fixture. I like SPS but I also like my acans and zoas to. I hope you have better luck than I did.
