This question is for those that have owned Leopard Wrasses. I have a female Lepoard wrasse I have had for 3+ years and I have a male I just bought. The male is smaller and does not have all the male coloring, I have put the male in my 125g. The question is will the female try to kill him, should I wait for him to grow another inch? Is it better to move the female while the 125g is in the already stressful situation of a new male wrasse? I have also added a small purple tang and my flame tip tang and gold flake angel are trying to prove to the new arrivals who is boss of the tank.

Thank goodness I'm better wtih animals than electronics! Holley:)

The male wrasse is fat and has eaten everything I have put in the tank, he is out front and center all the time.

any way to put the male in a smaller container and place inside with the female to see if she tries to get at him? If she appears too aggressive while he's in the container, you can be sure she will if he's out. Just a thought to check her temperament with the male.

Not all Macropharyngodon behave the same at all!

Macropharyngodon meleagris generally do not due well with same (2 females should be ok), but any male and it will be war to the death.

Macropharyngodon meleagris males will kill any Macropharyngodon females including potter's, bipart, etc...

best leopards to pair with a male & female
kuiteri, bipartitus, cyanoguttatus, moyeri (hopefully), moyeri (unknown), Xenojulis margaritaceus

Thanks Greg and Ralph! I will have Hal build a fish keeper box for her and see how aggressive he becomes. In another tank I have a male and female blue star wrasse that seem to get along great. I feed them 4x a day, that may cut the aggression down. I have 2 other kinds of wrasses in with the male, so far the only aggression has been from the gold flake angel. The female has a huge green wrasse in with her, it is a bully at feeding time but she seems very gentle. I will let you know how it goes, it will be a while, Hal has some projects to finish before he can make the fish keeper box. Thanks for the info and if anyone has anymore info I would like to hear from you. Holley:)
