No, but ask them what their CRI (color rendering index) is. This is an indication of color accuracy, or fullness of spectrum, and dictated solely by the phosphors used in lamp manufacture. Phosphors are not cheap. Bulbs that are cheap, usually are lacking, especially in the most expensive ones. You ususally get what you pay for! JMHO

Thanks I appreciate the advice. Looking to replace (2) 150W DE Metal Halide bulbs for my Current Sunpod. I was thinking the Radium 20K bulbs or the the Phoenix 14K bulbs any advice or thoughts. Thanks Bill

What differnece have you seen between Radium and Phoenix? The price is about twice as much.

LMAO :lol2:

The color.. I have the SE 250's over my tank and will never use any other bulb again.. I have noticed a lot of people are pulling away from the Phoenix lately.. Not sure for what reason.. The Phoenix is going to give you better growth but the Radium will look better.. IMO

My prices are:

Phoenix 14K 150 W are $45
Radiums 20K 150 W are $76

Thanks,
Tim

Running Phoenix 14k in a single 150w Sunpod, and growth/color is great.

I'll be getting a Radium this January just to try it out.

I've purchased MH lamps off ebay before, I've had good results from it. The par was plenty to keep all my light loving inhabitants happy!

That being said, if I have enough time today, I'm going by Tim's to pick up a phoenix bulb.

I have run both 150 Radiums and 150 Phoenix. I loved the Phoenix bulbs. For the price they can not be beat. I now run 250's and Radiums are my favorite but 150's I would go with Phoenix.

I ran 2 400 watt 20 k Plusrite bulbs from trust_deals on e-bay for two years without any problems. The par was nowhere near a radium or helios bulb but was sufficient for growth of all my corals including sps. The color was fantastic and stayed longer than my Helios bulbs did. I ran them with advance magnetic ballast. The bulbs were $20, ballast were $44 raw, mogul sockets were $20 and the diy reflector which held both lights, cost me around $75. $199 for two 400 watt halides was pretty economical for me. That being said the par to wattage burned efficiency was horrible.
