Local source for Egg Crate?

yes, if you just go with white HD and Lowes are your best and cheapest options. I know for Black that The Fish Store used to carry it. Not sure about others.

Yeah the plain white stuff and hardware will carry it as "light diffuser"

We keep the black egg crate in stock.

Yeah you have to tell them it's "light diffuser" Sometimes its in the lighting section, but usually its in the back with the ceiling tiles.

FYI.... In the past, I've able to pick up damaged/broken pieces at a substantial discount and used some black Krylon Fusion, or any color, to make some racks. However you do have to talk with a "sales" associate to write up a ticket.

Have also picked up some damaged small travertine square tiles for frag plugs.
