So far I have seen more tanks with the LR piled up form the back of the tank going up. (with caves...ect..) Currently I have a 55gal with the LR stacked up in the middle of the tank. It is about equal distance from glass all around. (my florida conch does laps :) )

Is it better to just move the rocks to the back and give more space in the front of the tank or should I just leave it be?

I like my rocks stacked up toward the back wall that way I can view my fishes instead of them staying on the back.

if you have the tank against the wall stack against the back wall. this will allow the pods to grow and eat the algae on the back wall and keep most of the moving stuff towards the front. if you can see it on both sides then make islands.

A 55 is only 12" deep. If it were me, I'd stack against the wall to maximize the viewable swimming space.

I didn't know what eagle said, but that makes sense too.

It depends on what you and your fish like. Me if I had tangs in a 55 I would leave it were it is for swimming room for them. One thing I like about this hobbie is my tanks looks change every month I move rocks caves and corals so I can clean the sand bed.
