does anyone have this fish, Ive had mine for about 6 months. Ive read that the fish is nocturnal so I understand why I rarely see him but Ive never seen him come out when im feeding. Does anyone know what he eats and/or how is he surviving, not once have i seen him when feeding and I feed twice a day.

"When first introduced into the aquarium, live saltwater feeder shrimp should be used to entice this fish to eat. Using live foods such as feeder fish or shrimp will help it adjust. Once acclimated, it can be fed meaty foods and frozen preparations 2-4 times weekly. "

What I have personally noticed with these fish in the stores is that they are usually displayed w/little to no cover so that can acutually be seen and sold. A friend had one in his tank and I had never seen (in a year) until the lights cut off 1 evening. That's the only reason I don't have 1, they are beautiful fish though!

I did that but I still never seen him eat, he is the only fish thats doesnt come out for feeding but he has been in my tank for for about 6 months now

I have one and it comes out during the day. They are beautiful fish but are very slow eaters. He eats probably pods because mine would not come out at first and I was also worried about him but then I realized that I didn't see many pods at night time anymore. He now comes out all he time and will actually eat pieces of shrimp or whatever from my hand.

he will briefly swim out of the rock for about 5-10 seconds then he is gone again lol... I get to see him about 2-3 times a week. it just puzzles me that Ive never seen him eat but he is still alive.

Not sure but he's been there since before you know who sold his store but I didn't get it from him

Edit: Just let him be. I think thay're a tad paranoid by nature, because mine will eat from my hand but if I move he'll run for cover lol.

Fed mine small frozen shrimp, took a little training to get him to eat, didn't take long before he would take the shrimp from my hand.

how did you train him

Grabbed the shrimp with some tongs and very slowly so you don't spook him hold the the shrimp in front of him or try and get it where you can have it fall right in front of him.May take several tries though before he gets the picture.

I think mine is bout the same. You might want to try squirting some mysys or other food close to him. Mine is always out at feeding time and I usually give him small pieces of silversides that I squirt right in front of him. The clown in the background is huge, she is a pig and mean as hell.

I bought a Captive Raised marine Betta (Can't remember if it is ORA or SA) about 5 weeks ago and threw him into the 465 gallon reef, and I haven't see him since. Thought he had died. Lo and behold, I just saw him about 5 minutes ago. He's about a 3-3.5 incher.

I hate these fish that never come outta the rocks. I have a Swissguard Basselet in there I see a couple times a week at least. I feed this tank myself two times a day and can't figure what he is eating? Must be more food going into the rockwork than I thought.
