I'll be starting to run Matrix soon on my 120 sps system.

question: would it be beneficial to introduce bacteria into the system when I start as to seed the matrix with the "correct" bacteria?

In an established system, it should colonize on its own over time. If you're starting from scratch, add bacteria right after you add the matrix.

I'm looking to do the same thing soon. I'm just wondering if there is any way you are going to be able to quantify your results? What are you looking to achieve?

I guess for me when i add matrix i'd hope i might b able to increase my bioload.

Here's what I'm doing. I'm in the process of cycling (all dry rock) my 93g cube, and I forced a strong cycle (ammonia 9.0). I suspect when all of the ammonia and nitrites are at zero my nitrates will be through the roof! To combat this, I decided I would buy some Matrix and use it to my advantage (in theory). So I took the Matrix and placed in the sump, in a VERY well established 300g system for several weeks. The benificial bacteria should leach onto the matrix (a much higher baterial count then my little 93g cube will need) and I plan to use that bacteria to export most of the nitrates at the end of my cycle to decrease the amount of water changes I would otherwise have to do. At the end of it all, the "EXTRA" bacteria will die off as I won't I won't have enough bioload to sustain it.

Results to follow...

the only way to really quantify the results would be to test you nitrate levels before and after and see if there is a drop. but you wont see results for a few weeks and it may not reach the full effect for a month or two so be patient

Edit: oh and for best results put it into a reactor
